Jack the Ripper treasure hunt - explore Whitechapel and Spitalfields,
London, the scene of the grisly Jack the Ripper murders in the 19th century.
London, as we know it, effectively began in Roman times. During Victorian
times, the city saw huge immigration from Ireland and the Continent. This
created problems in certain areas such as Whitechapel and the East End in
general because of overcrowding and poverty. In 1888, Londoners experienced
the 'Autumn of Terror' when Jack the Ripper carried out a series of murders.
The victims were prostitutes - 5 in all, although some sources claim that
he continued for the next 3 years, killing 11 women. No one rally knows as
the Ripper was never caught.
Our Jack the Ripper treasure hunt takes you around the Spitalfields and
Whitechapel area where the Ripper operated, places like the Hoop and Grapes,
reputed to be London's oldest surviving pub which has 13th century foundations,
Spitalfields Market, the Ten Bells Pub which may have been frequented by
the victims ... But to find out more, contact us now!
The nearest tube station is Aldgate and we would suggest that the Dickens
Inn is a convenient start and finish venue, but the treasure hunt can be
run from any other venue in the vicinity.
